Location
Paradise Park is located in the inner reaches of Manoa Valley, just a 5-mile and 15-minute drive from Waikiki and downtown Honolulu. Manoa is a very desirable and stable residential community, including schools, parks, and the University of Hawaii campus. The valley also includes the Lyon Arboretum, plant nurseries, and limited agricultural uses. The inner position of Manoa Valley remains in a natural and verdant state.
Property
The entire property is comprised of 76.28 acres of land, zoned for conservation with recreational use, at the back of Oahu’s lush Manoa Valley. This visitor attraction opened to the public in 1968 and continues as a botanical/zoological garden through 1993. Over 1.5 million of exotic flora flourish within the park.
Currently 5 main structures are on the property, including an Amphitheater seats 300 visitors, 20,000+ square-foot 4-story Main Building, Discovery Center/Cultural Pavilion, Caretaker’s House, and Maintenance Building. The buildings and improvements total approximately 46,548 square feet.
Top floor of main building has approximately 9-10,000 sq ft Restaurant with views of the Park. The Tree Top Restaurant was formally in operation with banquet style venues, weddings and conventions.
The park has on-site parking for approximately 175 vehicles. An extensive covered pathway protects visitors from rain showers, which are typical in Manoa Valley. The path leads visitors through extensive gardens, masses of lush tropical vegetation, and tropical streams, which make this site one of Oahu’s most picturesque outdoor experiences.
